Logbook Servicing
A logbook service is recommended if your vehicle is still covered by the manufacturers warranty or the service history indicates full compliance with the manufacturers service schedule. The logbook car service will follow the maintenance schedule set out in the manufacturer’s handbook. Normally a logbook service will be identified by either the distance the vehicle has traveled or the amount of time that has elapsed since it’s last service, 10,000 km or 6 months as an example.

Key Benefits
Car Servicing on a regular basis will extend its serviceable life when compared to a vehicle with minimal service history. During a car service potential problems can be identified and addressed before they evolve into something more costly or dangerous. Investing in a regular car service and inspection program will result in the following;

  • Reduction in overall vehicle repair expenditure
  • Increased reliability
  • Increased resale value
  • Increased safety
  • Improved fuel economy
ACCC Ruling

The governing body, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (A.C.C.C) have published  guidelines on this subject, they can be viewed via their website here ACCC.

Page 9 states:

Warranties against defects may set out requirements
that consumers must comply with. For example, a
warranty against defects on a motor vehicle may require
the consumer to ensure any servicing is carried out:
> by qualified staff
> according to the manufacturer’s specification
> using appropriate quality parts where required.

Page 14 states:

Choice of repairer under the consumer guarantees
Consumers are sometimes confused about the
differences between the consumer guarantees,
warranties against defects and extended warranties.
This is especially the case when dealers and
manufacturers make broad statements that
consumers will ‘void their warranties’ or similar if they
go to an independent repairer (for example, a repairer
who is not affiliated with the manufacturer or part of
the manufacturer’s network).
Any suggestion by car manufacturers or dealers that
motor vehicles need to be serviced at a licensed dealer
to maintain the owner’s consumer guarantee rights is
not correct.

No need to worry about your warranty!
At AutoTech  we use the manufacturers service schedules when performing logbook car services, a logbook service will ensure your vehicle’s service compliments its age as specified by the manufacturer. We also use genuine parts or their equivalent to ensure that your manufacturers warranty remains intact.
End of warranty inspection
If your car is nearing the end of its warranty period, we recommend you book it in for an inspection to ensure all warrantable items can be addressed before the warranty expires.

Of course not all parts are covered under a manufacturers warranty: tyres, brakes, filters, spark plugs, fluids, lubricants and wipers are all considered normal wear items that need to be serviced or replaced at the owners expense. So if your vehicle is no longer covered by a manufacturer’s warranty and you would rather opt for a general service, please check out our general service menu.

You can rest assured that you will receive a truly high-quality service from qualified technicians, all at a competitive price.

You Won’t Be Disappointed!
